Adanacs pull even in WLA final

Coquitlam Adanacs shade Langley Thunder 9-8 in Game 2 of WLA finals; even series at 1-1.

The Coquitlam Adanacs are all even in their Western Lacrosse Association championship series with the Langley Thunder.

The Adanacs used home-floor advantage to brush back Langley 9-8 in Game 2 of the best-of-seven series Tuesday night at Poirier Sports Complex.

Game 3 went Thursday night in Langley at the Events Centre.

The teams combined for nine goals in the first period, with Jason Jones (2), Ross Halliday, Kevin Olson and Travis Cornwall tallying for Coquitlam, and Lewis Ratcliff and Athan Iannucci each scoring twice for the Thunder.

The second frame remained scoreless until Thunder rookie Tor Reinholdt pulled his team even with 90 seconds to play. Iannucci gave Langley its first lead with 39 seconds remaining in the period.

An early goal from Halliday, his second of the night, and three more from Dane Dobbie were enough to seal the win. Late scoring for Langley came from Alex Turner and Iannucci, recording his fourth of the game.

Vernon’s Brodie MacDonald recorded 25 saves for Langley, while Nick Rose had 36 saves for the win.

The Adanacs collected five of their nine goals on the powerplay, three of them in the third period.
