Armstrong hosts Okanagan figure skating championships

Regional championships at Nor-Val Sports Centre in Armstrong to feature 20 clubs, 300+ skaters

Figure skaters from around the valley converge on Armstrong this weekend.

The Armstrong-Enderby Skating Club is hosting the Okanagan Regional Championships at the Nor-Val Sports Centre Friday through Sunday, Feb. 9-11.

“This is a large competition that will feature more than 300 skaters from around the Okanagan,” said Heather Mason of the host club.

A total of 316 skaters have registered for the event, and there are 511 entries in all of the competitions as some skaters will compete in multiple events.

There will be 20 clubs from throughout the Okanagan taking part.

The Okanagan championships go Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (ish).

The Armstrong Lions Club will host a barbecue for competitors and spectators Saturday afternoon.
