Mackenzie Barrie of Vernon (80-75) finished fourth in the Girls Division of the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s MJT Kikkor Classic at Morgan Creek Golf Club in South Surrey.
Barrie, a 17-year-old member of the Vernon Golf and Country Club, recorded nines of 39-36 Sunday, earning birdies on the par-5 10th and 17th holes. She went 40-40 in Saturday’s opening round, scoring birdies on two par-4s on the front in tricky spring conditions.
Alix Kong, 16, of West Vancouver (76-71) defeated Keanna Mason, 16, of Maple Ridge (79-68) in a playoff for the title.
Third place went to Hannah Lee, 13, of Surrey (76-75).
There was a girls’ field of 22 athletes.
A highlight for participants was having PGA Tour member James Lepp, a Kikkor Golf founder, present every player with a pair of Kikkor golf shoes, and give individual ‘saucer pass’ lessons after the final round.
The next Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour stop in B.C. is the MJT Junior Worlds Qualifier, hosted by the Pagoda Ridge Golf Club, May 18-19, in Langley.
