The BC Senior Curling Championships are now underway in Penticton until March 24.
Teams from across the province can be seen at the Penticton Curling Club at 505 Vees Dr., as they vie for gold in both men’s and women’s divisions.
The event’s opening ceremony took place Tuesday, March 19, with teams gathering for their official introductions.
Penticton hasn’t had a senior provincial championship team since Marilou Richter, Dawn Everest, Cindy Curtain and Deirdre Riley represented the South Okanagan city and Kelowna in the women’s division in 2019.
This weekend’s tournament is hosted by the Penticton Curling Club, in conjunction with BC Curl.
Games can be streamed on Curl BC’s YouTube page and on TELUS Optik TV (channels 707 or 1901).
The provincial group says it will qualify one senior men’s team and an additional women’s team to compete at the Canadian Curling Senior Championships, set to be held from Dec. 2 to 7, 2024, in Moncton, New Brunswick.
