Beauregard rates Team B.C. tryout

Vernon's Kayden Beauregard among five Interior athletes to earn tryout with Team B.C. U15 field lacrosse team in Langley.

Vernon’s Kayden Beauregard has another entry for his growing field lacrosse resume.

The Grade 9 Vernon Secondary student was one of five Interior athletes to earn an invite to Team B.C. Under 15 boys tryouts last weekend in Langley. While he didn’t make the final cut, Beauregard said the experience was valuable.

“It was really cool. It was fun to play with a high level of players,” said Beauregard, who only took up field lacrosse three years ago.

A member of the North Okanagan Legends U15 team, Beauregard was selected for Team B.C. tryouts after a recent Interior selection camp at UBC Okanagan. He was joined by Tyson Johnston (Kamloops), Chace Jones (Kamloops), Connor Ramage (Penticton) and Trenton Henson (Penticton) in Langley.

An attack player, Beauregard has been working with the Okanagan Sun Devils elite program to raise his skill level. Along with Legends’ practices, he trains with the Devils every other Friday, working mainly on dryland and stick skills.

“I’ve been practising for awhile with the elite program and have really improved my hands and my shot,” he said.

The Sun Devils are in Victoria this weekend competing in a scouting tournament at Claremont Secondary.
