Bennison takes two

Hannah Bennison of Vernon won the 1,200- and 2,000-metre races in the 14/15 girls category at the Langley Pacific Invitational last weekend.

Hannah Bennison of Vernon won the 1,200- and 2,000-metre races in the 14/15 girls category at the Langley Pacific Invitational last weekend.

Bennison is now ranked No. 1 in the province for her age in the 600, 1,200, and 3,000.

Trinity Hansma of Armstrong took high jump gold in the same age division. Hansma recorded a new personal best of 155 centimetres. She is top-ranked in the high jump.

Armstrong’s Ella Brown, now at SFU, struck gold in the 18/19 class triple jump. Brown is rated first in B.C. in the triple jump and third in the long jump and 100 metres.

Vernon’s Connor Hamilton, 11, finished eighth in the high jump, while his brother, Tyler Hamilton, 11, was 10th in both the 600 and 1,000.

Abby Lanlor of Vernon placed fourth in the nine-year-old 600 in two minutes, 13.81 seconds. She was seventh in the nine-year-old 60 finals in 11.08 seconds and seventh in the 100, in 18.44 seconds.

Lanlor was ninth in the long jump with a distance of two metres, 30cm.

Her sister, Brooke Lanlor, took fourth in the 11-year-old 1,000, in three minutes and 49.26 seconds. She was 12th in the high jump with a leap of one metre, five cm and was ninth in the 600.
