The Westyde Blue Wave dispatched the Fulton Maroons 42-0 in Interior Junior Varsity Football League play Tuesday at Grahame Park.

It was 28-0 at the half with the Maroons going mainly with a running game.

Ethan Schiman produced 43 yards on 13 touches for the Maroons, who got 14 yards on five rushes by quarterback Evan Trottier.

Trottier completed two of 10 passes for 12 yards and one interception.

Rav Dhanoa caught two passes for a dozen yards.

“This game just shows how much work our jayvee team has in front of it,” said Fulton head coach Mike Scheller. “We are very inexperienced and it shows when you play a team that had 28 returning players from last year. They were simply better football players, more experienced and more prepared. We need game time and we will improve. One area we really need to improve upon is our aggression. We are too passive as a group and you cannot play football passively; we need to get more physical.”

Liam Gombrich and Logan Higgs each recorded six tackles, while Trottier  had three and ran back a pick 30 yards.

Scheller gave major props to Trottier and a few others.

“As a QB, he hung in there and played tough. He was pressured all game and made some nice throws. Defensively, he stepped up and played really well for us. Liam Gombrich showed a lot of toughness at DT. He was really good for us inside and played his best game as a Maroon. Aaron Edwards was solid on both sides of the ball for us as well.”

Fulton hosts Rutland Wednesday.

In senior AA varsity AA play tonight, the Maroons go up against the Duchess Park Condors of Kamloops (5 p.m.), while the VSS Panthers tackle the Pitt Meadows Marauders at 7:30. Both games are at the Greater Vernon Athletics Park.
