A total of 20 teams from across B.C. were greeted by mixed conditions at the 14th annual Funtastic Mixed Triples Tournament, hosted by the Vernon Lawn Bowling Club last weekend at Polson Park.
“For the most part, the weather co-operated throughout the weekend, with the exception of a torrential downpour during play on Saturday afternoon,” said Frank Anderson, committee chair. “However, the competitors’ spirits were soon lifted as the spectators entertained them with a fan wave.”
Teams competed in five divisions, with winners as follows:
A event – Connor McGowan (skip), Laurie Moritz and Joanne West of the Kelowna LBC.
Runners-up – Mladen Bosnjak (skip), Jack Byron and Alice Dunkley of the Penticton LBC.
B event – Dolores Adams (skip), Martin Kroll and Doug Wiseman of the Kelowna LBC.
Runners-up – Rheal Bosse (skip), Pam Jones and Ross Perkin of Kamloops’ McArthur Park LBC.
C event – Bud Tennant (skip), Alice Tennant and Bob Gamble of the Kamloops’ Riverside LBC.
Runners-up – Al Belliveau (skip), Drew Bryant and Marilyn Bryant of the Kelowna LBC.
D event – Jim Burns (skip), Jane Clarke and John Clarke of the Vernon LBC.
Runners-up – Mike Smith (skip), Janet Smith along with Ann Paterson and Helene Halkoff of the Kelowna LBC.
E event – Dave Muir (skip), Kate Wilson and Pat Goodwin of the Parksville LBC.
Runners-up – Doug Perkins (skip), Dawn Perkins along with Bob Wright and Don Whitnack of the Vernon LBC.
