What North Okanagan Minor Lacrosse Association (NOMLA) is looking for is volunteers.
“We have many positions within NOMLA that need to be filled,” said president Kari Gares. “A bigger one is the need for coaches in field, which is right around the corner.
“We are looking for those who have experience in lacrosse, either in playing or in coaching. We are looking for all levels from U18 to U7.”
Applications are available on the NOMLA website, www.nomla.ca.
Gares said there is a huge need to provide quality instruction for those looking to pursue lacrosse at the collegiate level.
“It’s high time NOMLA start addressing these needs by ensuring a higher level of instruction in the more advanced age groups, but we need help in getting the word out,” she said.
In box lacrosse this summer, NOMLA’s Tyke and Bantam teams took season banners, with others teams finishing second overall.
“We have so many skilled players within our association that we need to start providing additional tools and resources that will give them every opportunity that the Lower Mainland associations have,” said Gares.
“It also ensures we have quality players moving into the Junior League (Thompson Okanagan).”
The Vernon Sun Valley Source For Sports Tigers and Armstrong Shamrocks of the TOJLL have their rosters loaded with North Okanagan minor lacrosse grads. Both teams have also used Midget-team call-ups this season.
Current North Okanagan Minor players Jordan Scherck and Thomas Mackiewich (box) and Caden Colmorgen, Liam Cyr and Kaden Doughty (field) were selected to their respective Okanagan teams that are competed in the B.C. Summer Games in Abbotsford last
weekend.
