Boxer wins debut bout

Christian (PacMan) Tanutan of the Vernon Boxing Club, a 150-lb senior class fighter, won his ring debut in New Westminster

PacMan hunted down and gobbled up his opponent.

Christian (PacMan) Tanutan of the Vernon Boxing Club, a 150-lb senior class fighter, won his ring debut, scoring a three-round unanimous decision over Mission’s Brennan MacBlain at the Beyond Boxing bouts in New Westminster.

“The fight was a good old-fashioned slugfest, from the opening bell,” said Tanutan’s coach, Brian Jones, of the Vernon Boxing Club. “Christian went after Brennan and threw 10 punch combinations, chasing him down and trapping him on the ropes.

“It was probably the most exciting fight of the night.”

Tanutan proved to his coach and himself to be a real scrapper.

“He leaves it all in the ring with no doubt for the judges,” said Jones.
