Brodie backs Thunder

Langley Thunder shade Victoria Shamrocks 7-6 in Game 1 of the Western Lacrosse Association final Wednesday night.

Vernon netminder Brodie MacDonald recorded 48 saves as the host Langley Thunder shaded the Victoria Shamrocks 7-6 in Game 1 of the Western Lacrosse Association final Wednesday night.

First star Mark Matthews led the Langley offence with three goals and an assist, while second star Garrett Billings supplied 1+3. Dane Dobbie, Athan Iannucci and Alex Crepinsek added singles.

Victoria answered with singles from Tyler Hass, third star Rhys Duch, Corey Small, Brody Eastwood, Dan MacRae and Jeff Shattler.

Game 2 of the best-of-seven set goes tonight at Bear Mountain Arena in Victoria. The winner will host the Mann Cup final against Ontario’s Major Series Lacrosse champion starting Friday, Sept. 6.
