The Stanley Cup Final kicked off Monday with the Pittsburgh Penguins taking Game 1, 5-3 over the Nashville Predators.
Between the two teams, there are 12 former Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) alumni competing. Nashville boasts seven skaters that spent time in the CJHL. Six of the Predators skaters are forwards, including former Penticton Vee Ryan Johansen, who is out with an injury, while the other is a defenceman, Matt Irwin, who played for the Nanaimo Clippers. Former Westside Warrior Colton Sissons scored his sixth goal of the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins feature five CJHL alumni on their current postseason roster that have dressed for at least one contest. Three of them are forwards and the other two are D-men. Click on the link for the full list.
