Vernon’s Aaron Heidt closed out the Canadian Tire Interior Road Race Series with a win at the Peak to Beak Sunday at Kelowna’s Knox Mountain.

Heidt completed the challenging 18-kilometre course in one hour, three minutes and 14 seconds, more than a minute ahead of runner-up Trevor Haaheim of Kelowna. Hans Aabye of Merritt took third in 1:07:20.

Vernon’s Peter Baumeister, racing in the men’s 16-19 division, was eighth overall in 1:15:05.

Coldstream’s Dan Kunzelman (1:26:09) ranked fourth in the men’s 45-49, Vernon’s Ken Riegel (1:32:27) secured fourth in the men’s 60-64 and John Chisholm (1:35:40) pocketed third in the men’s 55-59.

Lumby’s Christine Labrie, the top local female, earned sixth in the women’s 30-34 with a 1:35:53, Coldstream’s Janice Irwin finished in 1:46:02 to take second in the women’s 60-64 and Coldstream’s Rossi Wiltse was 10th in the women’s 30-34 with 1:47:03.

Vernon’s Patricia Riegel (1:48:35) took bronze in the women’s 60-64, Robert Chow (1:58:15) ranked sixth in the men’s 20-29 and Carol Chisholm (2:01:46) rated fourth in the women’s 55-59.
