Cleary, Whitling provide MFC tricks

MFC cranked the Salmon Arm Outlaws 8-2 in North Okanagan Men’s Soccer League action Wednesday night in Salmon Arm.

Scoreless at half, MFC (3-9-1) came out on fire with the hat tricks and a pair of snipes from Alberto Lopez.

The Outlaws fell to 0-14.

The NOD Eagles Homes blanked Peters Tirecraft 2-0 at Marshall Field #2.

The Tiremen (2-11) were persistent with great passes and plays through the middle, but couldn’t bear down in front of the net.

The Eagles (9-5) scored on a shot from distance and off of a beautiful free kick that curved around the wall.

Christian Millville was Man of the Match for the tire guys. He played excellent defensively in centre midfield and anchored his team on the pitch.

North Enderby Timber and Revelstoke Stallions clashed with sole possession of second place at stake.

NET shut out the Stallions 6-0 at MacDonald Park.

The game was scoreless after a smoky first half.

The Timber (9-4-1) took advantage of a shorthanded Revelstoke club with six goals in the second half.

Brent Poulsen dangled a few defenders before hooking one around the keeper in the 60th minute.

Less than one minute later, Mike Bennett streaked down the wing with a burst of speed and crossed it to Alex Farina for the tap in.

Graham Ross fearlessly slid to break up a Revelstoke clearing attempt and found Dan Aikema, who sent it home.

Bennett sniped a single and then set up Farina for another tap in.

Bryndon Buckham’s booming left-footed volley found the top corner in the 85th minute.

Ean Ross collected back-to-back shutouts for the Timber. He made several key saves to keep the game scoreless in the first.

The Timber toppled Turn-Key Controllers 8-0 Sunday in an evening makeup game at MacDonald Park.

Bennett’s hat trick in the heat earned him the simplyfrugal.ca Man of the Match,

Bennett’s first came in the first half as he one-timed a Lendrit Ademi cross.

Veteran Graham Ross added a pair. The first was a rocket from the 18 that blasted past the diving keeper.

Bennett inherited the ball following some gorgeous passing in front for the tap in, and completed his hatty with a world-class strike from 28 yards.

NET added three insurance goals late.

The league playoffs start Wednesday night.
