The Langley Thunder and Brampton Excelsiors will square off to decide Canada’s senior A lacrosse champion in the Mann Cup.
Brampton won Ontario’s Major Lacrosse Series 4-2 over the Peterborough Lakers. The Excelsiors iced the defending Mann Cup champion Lakers 9-7 in Game 6 Tuesday night.
The Thunder are making their first-ever appearance at the Mann Cup championship series. Langley earned that right after upsetting the three-time Western Lacrosse Association champion New Westminster Salmonbellies. Brodie MacDonald, a Vernon product, backstopped the Thunder with a playoff MVP performance.
The best-of-seven series gets underway with Games 1 and 2 Wednesday and Thursday respectively (all games are at the Langley Events Centre). Games 3 and 4 are scheduled for Sept. 10 and 11.
If necessary, the remaining games are set for Sept. 12, 14 and 15. All of the game times are 7:45 p.m.
