The Okanagan Fever open play Friday in the Canadian National SPN Co-Ed D Slo-Pitch Championships in Langley, hoping to better their fourth-place showing in 2011.

Head coach Heather Savitsky says the Fever are primed for the 13-team tournament.

“We have been busy preparing for the last five weeks, even entering a tournament in Kelowna the weekend of July 7-8 to get ready for this year’s nationals,” said Savitsky.

The double-knockout playoff round starts Sunday morning.

“We have a very strong team going and are looking towards a great tournament,” said Savitsky, a huge New York Mets’ fan.
