A former West Kelowna Warrior is NHL bound.

Defenceman Char-les-Alexis Legault was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fifth round (139th overall) in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft on Thursday, June 29.

The Laval, Que., native played the 2021-22 season for the Warriors, collected six goals and 12 assists in 36 games.

In the Warriors long playoff run that season, Legault produced 11 points (two goals, nine assists) in 11 games.

During the 2022-23 season, Legault played for Quinnipiac University, where he scored two goals and added seven assists in 40 games.

The 19-year old was one of many former and current BCHL players taken in the 2023 draft.

He was the first Warrior taken since Tyson Jugnauth was taken by the Seattle Kraken in the fourth round (100th overall) in the 2022 draft.

Legault has not signed his entry level deal with Carolina yet.
