Hoop stars help UBCO clubs

Jordan Korol, Andie Kaneda and Kristy Fugel were on three of the different age-group squads operated by UBCO.

Vernon basketball products were among the rosters of the UBC Okanagan club teams competing at the WolfPack Summer Shootout tournament hosted by Kamloops’ Thompson Rivers University.

Korol and the U17 team, directed by former Vernon Panthers head coach Bobby Mitchell, went 2-2.

Korol had 18 points and four rebounds to lead the Junior Heat to a 52-48 win over the UNBC Junior Timberwolves of Prince George in their final game.

Korol led UBCO with 12 points in a 52-39 loss to the Fraser Valley Junior Cascades.

Fugel and the U16 girls won all four of their games by an average of 30 points. Their closest game was a 45-41 victory over the Lower Mainland’s Triple Threat squad (no scoring details were reported from any of the games).

Kaneda hit the scoresheet in all four games as the U15 Junior Heat U15 went 2-2 in Kamloops.

Kaneda’s highest output was six points in a 43-38 loss to the Fraser Valley U15 Cascades.
