The Vernon Jackals jolted the Salmon Arm Manthers 41-0 in Interior Rugby Union action Saturday at Grahame Park.

The Jackals controlled possession early and threatened to score from the start but solid defence from the Manthers’ back line kept them out of the try zone for almost a half.

The Jackals managed to break the line twice in the late going and took a 10-0 lead into the break. Strong forward play and tries from Travis Beck (2) and Josh Cooper set the Jackals on the right track.

“We are clearly a second-half team, but these slow starts are something we have to fix if we want to make a push in playoffs,” said Vernon captain Bryan Cragg.

Vernon closes the regular season Saturday against the defending champion Penticton Harlequins a Kings Park. Win and the Jackals take the No. seed into the playoffs.
