Jackals smother Gnats

The Vernon Jackals gonged the Prince George Gnats 33-19 in Interior Rugby Union play Saturday at Grahame Park.

Grant Gold scored a pair of tries and was stellar defensively as Vernon Jackals gonged the Prince George Gnats 33-19 in Interior Rugby Union play Saturday at Grahame Park.

It was 28-12 Jackals at the half. Bryan Cragg, Trevor Miyazaki and Kevin Stecyk added tries. Miyazaki (standoff) went 4-for-5 on converts.

“Our club showed a lot of good flashes and offensively, we moved it quite well,” said Vernon player/coach Mike Scheller. “Gold hit a few holes very quickly and opened up their defence.”

Scheller also gave props to Miyazaki, Cragg at inside centre, fullback Devin Hospes, lineout whiz Matt Evans and prop Wade Buller.
