Chase Batchelor doubled to right field bringing home Ryan Gamage and Brayden Beacom stole home for the C’s in the sweltering heat.

Carter Morris (game MVP) made an outstanding diving catch at short stop in the first inning and Mathew Hansen robbed a home run with a catch over the centre field fence.

The Canadians rattled Rutland #2 16-2 in the semifinal.

Morris pitched five innings with seven Ks allowing two runs.

Jack Janzen was MVP, going 2-for-2, with two RBI, two stolen bases, two runs scored and a walk. In the third inning, Christopher McIntosh singled with an RBI, while Ryan Vandesande singled to left on a frozen rope to cash in a pair of RBI.

Beacom singled up the middle to score a pair, while Vandesande hit a double to centre, scoring two runs.

Vernon edged Kelowna 6-4 in the second game of the playoffs.

Gamage pitched four innings with six punch outs, while Beacom pitched the final two innings, fanning two.

Gamage got it done with the stick too, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Beacom was MVP as he went 2-for-2. Hansen, Eric Foufoulas, Batchelor and Koll Cherkowski recorded RBI’s.

Vernon squeaked past Kamloops 6-5 in the opener with Gamage striking out the side late for MVP.

The Vernon Tim Hortons Bantam AA Canadians  rattled off four road wins to finish their spring baseball season at a smoldering 16-4.

The Canadians canned the host West Kelowna Diamondbacks 9-8 Sunday.

Jarod Leroux, Zack Orchard and Caden Doyle pieced together six innings on the mound before Jacob Soucey came in for the save.

Soucey fanned the final Dbacks’ hitter with two out and the bases loaded.

In game two, the C’s torched the Dbacks 20-7 as Dax Defelice, Doyle, Ethan Huizinga and Dawson Chase smacked three hits each, while Soucey and Leroux had two apiece.

The C’s clipped the host Kamloops Riverdogs 6-5 Saturday. Ace Nathan Nesbitt yielded three hits and two runs. Vernon scored three in the top of the seventh as Doyle, Landon Currie and Chase all had two hits.

The C’s downed the Riverdogs 9-1 in the nightcap. Corey Anderson was 2-for-3 at the dish.

The Canadians head to Grand Forks next weekend for four games.
