Lumby Stars sweep two

The Lumby Stars, sponsored by Bannister GM and Irly Bird Building Centers, iced Winfield #1 Bruins 8-3 and mauled the Vernon Butcher Boys Bears 16-1 in Pee Wee hockey play.

Ryder Quibell, Zachary Young and Quintin O’Neill each bagged deuces in Saturday’s win over Winfeld. Tori Maltman and Bryden Murray added singles.

Young was on fire with five goals as the Stars slammed the Bears. Murray produced four goals,  while Jack Laventure and Quintin O’Neill each had deuces and Quibell, Tori Maltman and Jace Catt each scored once. Seth Maglio replied for Butcher Boys.

n The Vernon Atom Development C Tournament winds up today with the championship final at 1 p.m. (Civic Arena).

There are 10 teams entered, including the H&L Glass Wolfpack and the Valley Wood Remanufacturing Venom. The game for third place goes at 9:30 a.m. at Civic.
