Maroons struggle against MEI

After an opening day win against the Valleyview Vikings of Kamloops, the Fulton Maroons fell 82-47 to the MEI Eagles of Abbotsford Friday at the Sa-Hali Sabre Classic Senior Boys Basketball Tournament in Kamloops.

“It was a tough game for us. We really didn’t play well,” said Fulton manager Riley Mottus.

The Maroons, rated No. 5 on the AA circuit, trailed by 28 at the half and never recovered. The top scorer was Dustin Popoff with 12 points. Greg Hyde and Dalton Anderson chipped in with 11 points each and shared the rebounding lead, each with nine boards.

Anderson earned 25 points and Game MVP in the Valleyview game, an 85-54 win.

Fulton faced the No. 10 Duchess Park Condors of Prince George Saturday morning.
