Alves Brothers stopped Kal Tire FC’s winning streak at four with a 4-2 Kelowna Men’s 35+ Soccer League victory Monday night in Rutland.

Geoff Straight found open space and finished with a beauty shot for a 1-0 Tiremen lead. Alves Bros. responded when left winger Kyle Bilinski broke through on a free kick and beat a defender to get a clear shot which Kal Tire keeper Chris Bader had no chance on. Bader was The Branding Iron Pub Man of the Match.

Kal  Tire went up 2-1 when Tim Mcgowan took a free kick and hit the low corner with a beautiful curling ball around the wall. Alves came back hard and Morgan Marrs scored their next two.  He got a rebound and then one-timed a cross with a defender right in his face.  Alves Bros. (4-2)  took a red card when a player pulled the jersey of scoring king Jesse Knight and then took another Kal Tire player down. Bilinski stole a misplayed ball and Vernon product John Orton finished for insurance.

Kal Tire (4-1) was notably missing sweeper Damian Adams who injured his ankle trying to play with the young boys.
