The Corbett Office Supply Spartans battled to a rare, but spirited, 0-0 draw with the Kamloops Jets to open the Bantam Winter Classic rec hockey tournament Friday at Wesbild Centre.
Chris Moore was outstanding for the Spartans as he earned his shutout with some key second-period saves. Emma Gottfriedson was spectacular for the Jets early as Vernon pressed a strong first-period advantage.

Lee Springer, assisted by Brandon Rysen, and Rysen, set up by Lukacs, gave vernon a 4-0 lead heading into the third period.
Lukacs (assist to Jeff Bochon), and Rysen (assist to Graham Jones), each with their second of the night, wrapped up the Coke boys’ scoring. Liam McOnie had his shutout bid broken midway through the third period.
The Sun Valley Source For Sports Renegades pummelled Salmon Arm 6-1 in Bantam Tier 1 exhibition play Friday night at Priest Valley Arena.
Jagger Williamson jumpstarted Vernon’s attack in the first period, assited by Eammon Miller and Kaden Black. Matt Kowalski made it 2-0 before the break, with helpers going to Reed Cashato and Michael Lenoury.
Josh Decoffe, from Kowalski and Cashato, put Vernon up by three before Salmon Arm responded with their lone goal off a wrister from the top of the crease.
Williamson pocketed his second snipe to keep the Renegades rolling in the third period, assists to Black and Gage Kopp, who delivered the hit of the night.
Nick Higgs, from Cashato and Kowalski, and an unassisted marker by Miller rounded out the scoring in front of Josh Evans.
The Renegades welcomed Brady Marzocco back to the lineup after missing three weeks with a sore MCL.
