Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe chipped in seven points as Canada thumped the Dominican Republic 111-36 at the FIBA Americas women’s basketball championship Tuesday night in Edmonton.
The Dominicans only scored more than 10 points in the third quarter.
Raincock-Ekunwe, a Kal Laker grad, has been solid for the Canadians in limited minutes. She is 4-for-12 shooting and drilled her first three ball of the tournament Tuesday night. She is also 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
The Canadians took on Cuba in their final group stage game Thursday night in a battle of undefeated teams. It is a rematch of the 2013 final, one in which Cuba edged Canada 79-71.
Semifinals run Saturday with the championship game 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The winner of the tournament directly qualifies for the Summer Olympics next summer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
