Paulsen scored twice as the Timber toppled Turn Key Controls of Vernon 5-1 in season-opening North Okanagan Men’s Soccer League play Wednesday night at Marshall #5 Field.

Devin Janke, on a gorgeous 30-yard free kick to the top corner, Brodie Couch on a tap in, and Eric Vivian off a corner, completed the NET attack.

Davidson & Co. Dynamite iced the Salmon Arm Outlaws 4-0 at Marshall #3 (no scorers reported), while Monashee Surveying won by default over the Revelstoke Stallions. The Concept Physio at Eagle Homes game in Salmon Arm was postponed due to a scheduling error.

In Okanagan Men’s Over 35 League play Monday night, forward Wes Vanderveen scored twice as Bosman Accounting of Vernon grounded the Kelowna Rented Mules 2-0 at Marshall #1.

Vanderveen connected in the 15th minute on a 20-yard shot high in the right corner.

The accountants kept attacking in the second half supported by the gusty wind. Midfielder Glenn Wilson noticed attacker Ariel Tyk open on the right side of the 16 and Tyk’s shot also hit the crossbar.

Just minutes later, midfielder Bobby Zalcik had a long run over the right wing crossing the ball in front of the net where Tim Walters headed the ball to the crossbar.

In the second half, Left defender Greg Sol had a long pass and found Vanderveen who started at the halfway line, duelled for the ball with two defenders, beat them and went all alone to the net, scoring his second of the night, this time in the low left corner. Shawn Wiebe earned the shutout.

Vernon Toyota bowed 1-0 to host Lake Country at Beasley Park with the Lake Country crew scoring in the 85th minute.
