With their regular goalie out with an injury, Mason Wilson and Danny Cowden stepped into the big pads and led their lacrosse team to victories
Wilson was helped by a four-goal, three-assist performance from North Okanagan Everton Ridge Homes/ Rider Ventures Legends forward Boston Ciccone in an 11-3, U15A win over the Kelowna Kodiaks at the Nor-Val Sports Centre in Armstrong Sunday, May 28.
The victory helped the Legends sweep a trio of league games on the weekend.
Liam Marchand had 2+1 for North Okanagan, Wyatt Stowards and Dayton Orr each added 1+1 while single goals were scored by Liam Shalaby, Aiker Cruikshank and Jacob Bennett.
Wade Lightfoot chipped in three assists.
The Legends completed the sweep of Kelowna Sunday with an 8-0 decision with Cowden stopping all Kelowna shots. Ciccone led the offence with 3+2, Cruikshank scored twice, Lightfoot and Jesse Johnson each had 1+1 and Orr rounded out the scoring.
The weekend began Saturday, May 27, with an intense 8-4 North Okanagan win over the Kamloops Rattlers at Nor-Val.
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, with the Legends grabbing a 5-3 lead heading into the final frame.
Ciccone (2A) and Orr (1A) each had two goals for the Legends. Ben Lemke added 1+1 and single goals were scored by Cowden, Lightfoot and Cruikshank. Shaymus Waterstreet picked up the win in goal.
U17B
The hometown Kelowna Kodiaks outscored the North Okanagan Shepherd’s Home Hardware/Iron Ghost Construction Tigers 4-1 in the final period to post a 9-4 league victory.
Teigan Kelley scored three goals for North Okanagan while Kayden Thorburn pocketed the other in support of Legends goalie Chayton Mitchell-Tardiff.
North Okanagan is taking part in Kelowna’s home tournament this weekend.
Senior
It’s game day in Vernon as the longtime rivalry between the Tigers and Armstrong Shamrocks is renewed once more.
The Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League matchup – the home finale for the Tigers – goes at 7:30 p.m. at Kal Tire Place North.
