In Novice hockey action, the Tim Hortons Panthers went 2-2 at the Penticton tournament, falling 8-1 to the Langley Thunder in Sunday’s semifinal.
Adam Bourgeois counted the Panther goal, from Colby Restiaux.
In preliminary play, the Thunder stormed the Panthers 8-3 with Vernon getting goals from Bennett Kuhnlein (2) and Scotty Hoffman. Austin Seibel suffered the loss.
The Cats followed a Friday win with a 3-1 victory over the Kelowna Sting on goals from Jace Weir, Hoffman and Nick Noren. Bennett Kuhnlein made several key saves.
Colby Restiaux, Austin Seibel, Liam Liebel and Theo Van Wyk were very effective with their tencious forecheck.
Landon Munk and Justin Mitchell each scored twice as the Talon Benefits Hawks upended the Vernon Dudes 6-4 in a Midget Super League showdown Saturday at Civic Arena.
Braden Gilowski and Adam Fenske added singles for the Hawks, who took over first place at 7-1. Tyler McMillan had two helpers.
First-year minor hockey player Connor Loewen, with his first-ever goal, Brenden Zupp, Kristian Currie and Taylor Hamilton-Gee, with two seconds left, replied for the 7-2 Dudes.
The Vernon Seed Orchard Ducks improved to 7-2 by grounding the North Okanagan Knights 7-3 in Enderby before toppling KT’s Restaurant Blues 6-3 at Civic Arena.
Daniel Deshane, Brennan Martin, Cam Strike, Russel Negraiff, Steven Goebel, Liam MacPhee and newcomer Ted Edwards, in his first game with the Ducks, handled the offence Saturday in Enderby.
MacPhee and goalie Trey Spanier each pocketed a pair of helpers.
Aaron Keryluke, Solomon Ivanoff, Deshane, Goebel, MacPhee and Tim Ufimtseff supplied snipes Sunday night at Civic with d-man Nikolai Negraiff earning two assists. Spanier and Clay Coles again shared the win. The Blues are 5-2-1.
