The 41st annual Gibson Classic Masters Soccer Tournament kicked off over the weekend

MacDonald Park sounded like a dance party on Sunday evening, with a beer garden blasting tunes at the 41st Vernon Gibson Classic Masters soccer Tournament.

Seven divisions of men and woman aged 35 and up are competing over the Victoria Day long weekend in the tournament, which sees teams from B.C. and Alberta.

Sunday’s two matches in the evening were both in the 35 and up Men’s division. Vernon’s Bob Ross FC faced LWO from Salmon Arm and Vernon’s Kidston FC played Edmonton United.

Kidston was able to win big, 4-0, while Edmonton eked past Kidston 1-0.

There will be more action on Monday, beginning at 9 a.m with the Women’s and up league final.
