PHOTOS: Vernon Special Olympics Tigers tangle with Vernon RCMP in softball

Two groups meet for fun exhibition in Tigers’ final game of the spring season

The outlook wasn’t brilliant.

For a Vernon North Okanagan-ville RCMP batter.

Who struck out.

With runners in scoring position and faced a shameful retreat back to the dugout.

Much to the delight of the opposition.

Things got so bad for the Vernon North Okanagan constabulary in their exhibition friendly softball encounter with the ferocious Vernon Special Olympics Tigers, RCMP mascot Safety Bear switched teams and could be seen waving at the RCMP players.

There were plenty of laughs, plenty of runs, plenty of smiles and plenty of camaraderie in the fun ball game between the two organizations Thursday, June 22, at the Vernon Army Camp.

The game was the last of the Tigers’ season.
