They finished seventh and were nowhere close to being heard in the water cooler conversation about the Boston Pizza Rec Hockey League playoff contenders.

The Godard Excavating Predators were thus a loose bunch with nothing to lose as they knocked off the top three teams for the Boston Pizza Cup.

Kyle Walters supplied 2+1 as the Predators brushed back the Green Pub Moose 6-2 Wednesday night at Priest Valley Arena in the deciding game of the best-of-three final.

T.J. Christensen and Kevin Body each compiled 1+2 for the Preds, while Danny Stein and ex-Vernon Viper Chad Murray, into an empty net with 21 seconds left, also scored in support of stellar Chris Kingdon. Trevor Abel recorded two assists.

Mat Lambert and Nathan Harrer replied for the third-place Moose, who trailed 3-1 at the break. Godard Contracting outshot the Green 28-23 and took four of six minor penalties.

The Moose clipped the Preds 3-2 in a shootout Tuesday night at Kal Tire Place, tying the series.

The Preds shaded the Moose 2-1 in overtime in the opener last week at PV Arena.

Nanaimo Clipper grad Scott Kowalski netted the shootout winner in Game 2. Lambert and former Viper d-man Max Mowat also converted against Kingdon, who denied first shooter Dave Higgins.

Moose netminder James Scherck stopped opening shooter Body and third gunner Stein while getting beat by Murray and Christensen.

Kowalski and Lambert connected in regulation, while Kenny Johnstone and Christensen answered for the Preds. Also on the Preds’ roster: Cody Keller: Pete Purves: Keith Godard; Geoff Bevan, Jordan Nixon and Tyler Willan.

Geefs gets winning deuce for Team Mitchell

Logan Geefs scored goals 30 seconds apart in the final minute as Team Lucas Mitchell iced Team Steven Clark 13-11 in the Boston Pizza 3-on-3 Hockey League playoff final Tuesday night at the Okanagan Training Rink.

Geefs went coast to coast with 57 seconds left to level the score and added the winner on a similar play for the winner. Jeremy Clark, who busted out with four goals, forechecked hard and backhanded in an insurance tally while falling backwards, with seven seconds remaining.

Geefs drew four assists, while Brett Shaigec and Connor Butte-Landsfried each rang up a pair and Isaiah Wnger one.

Brett Williams, with 5+3, and Jordan Zacharuk and Brett Heitman, each with 2+2, led first-place Team Clark.

Geefs scored five times as Team Mitchell stopped Team Kyle Point 19-7 in the semis. Goalie Billy Cawthorn, who was fabulous, Lucas Mitchell and Max Mitchell rounded out the roster.
