The Princeton Posse swept a two-game set against the North Okanagan Knights with a 6-3 win at home Friday, Oct. 13.
The Posse, who beat the Knights 4-2 on Wednesday, scored the game’s opening goal on the powerplay 14:23 into the first period, courtesy of Justice Loewen.
Early in the second, the Knights capitalized on their first powerplay of the game at Tate O’Brien scored to tie the game at one goal apiece.
A few minutes later, Anmol Garcha restores the Posse’s lead with a goal assisted by Loewen and Locas Sadowynk.
Fraser O’Brien scored for the Knights almost 10 minutes later to tie the game at 2-2.
The Knights took their first and only lead of the game six minutes into the third period, when Richard Burden scored his second of the season.
However, the rest of the period was all Posse as the home team scored four unanswered. Jonathan Ward, Brennan Watterson, Bryton Morrow each scored a goal before Watterson added another into the empty net.
The Posse almost doubled the Knights’ shot total, putting 44 pucks on goaltender Michael Malinowski.
Princeton continues to sit atop the KIJHL’s Bill Ohlhausen division with 12 points in seven games. The Knights are in a three-way tie for second place with six points but have played a league-leading 10 games, five more than the Summerland Steam and one more than the Kelowna Chiefs.
The Knights are back in action Saturday at 7:15 p.m. versus the Beaver Valley Nitehawks. Princeton also plays Saturday against the Osoyoos Coyotes at 7 p.m.
