Game on. The Kelowna Raiders stuffed the Armstrong Shamrocks 7-2 Friday night in Game 1 of the Shaw Cup final series.

Shamrock goalie Chad Pieper was furious with some Kelowna fans at Memorial Arena, and is eager to tie up the best-of-three Okanagan X-treme Lacrosse League series Monday night at Hassen Arena.

“We hope to have a large crowd out for Monday; we need to pack the Hassen and make it a very hostile atmosphere for the visiting team,” said Pieper.

“They showed us and our fans no respect in Kelowna and we would love to return the favour.”

Luke Bailey led the first-place Raiders with 2+1, while Steve Plasko and Jordan Urban each had 1+2. Other goals came from Victor Wiebe, Braden Renner and Scott Renner. Kyle MacLennan earned five assists.

Jarrett Medhurst and Logan Strohm replied for the Shamrocks.

Pieper made 37 stops, while  Kelowna’s Graham Cousins recorded 29 saves.

It was a very chippy affair, highlighted by Shaun Koenig of the Rocks  getting the better of Jacob Illichman in a second-period scrap.

Ex-CFL lineman Devin Rodger delivered some crushing hits for the Shamrocks.
