Paige Ralston’s drive from 45-yards out in the second half gave the Kalamalka Lakers a 1-0 victory over the Fulton Maroons in the Lakers’ senior girls high school soccer home opener.
Ralston’s blast caught the Fulton keeper a bit off-line, and the shot sailed into the top corner.
Ralston, Megan Squair and Vicki Schley were cited for their strong performances for Kal, while A.J. Jacura and Erin Sakamoto provided grit and hustle for the Maroons.
League play continues Thursday when the Maroons host the Vernon Panthers at Grahame Park, and the Lakers entertaining Armstrong’s Pleasant Valley Saints at Kal Secondary.
Both games start at 4 p.m.
