Rattlers lower boom on Vernon Tigers

Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League begins 2022 season with Kamloops beating Vernon 17-9

KAMLOOPS THIS WEEK

Blaine Boomer paced the Kamloops Rattlers with four goals in a 17-9 victory over the Vernon Tigers on Friday at Memorial Arena on opening night of the Thompson-Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League season.

AJ Lockwood (3), Riley Peterson (3), Jeremy Bosher (2) Matt Smith (2), Colton Boomer, JJ Woldum and Ben Creasser also tallied for the Rattlers (1-0).

Ethan Milobar backstopped the home team.

Mike Henry racked up five assists, Peterson and Woldum each had four helpers and Milobar and Smith tallied three assists apiece.

Newcomer Gord Walls-Good (4), Jordy Barr (2), Brennan Plante, Craig Bigsby and Stephane Richard had goals for the Tigers (0-1), who went with Josh Point between the pipes.

The Tigers will face the expansion Princeton Rangers in their home opener of the five-team league Sunday, May 8, at 3 p.m. at Kal Tire Place.

The Armstrong Shamrocks had the opening weekend bye. The five-time defending playoff champion Irish will open their season in Kelowna Friday, April 29, against the Raiders.

Armstrong’s home opener is set for Thursday, May 19, against the Kamloops Rattlers at the Nor-Val Sports Centre.
