Benjamin Reinhardt scored twice as the Bannister GM Heat clipped Billy D’s Family Restuarant Xplosion 4-3 in Pee Wee Super Hockey League action Sunday at Civic Arena.
The Heat were up 3-0 after two periods on two goals by Benjamin Reinhardt and one by Jaxxon Collard. Dawson Martian received a beauty pass from Aaron Jodoin and buried a bullet wrist shot to put the Xplosion on the board in the third.
With 7:43 to play, Kristien Hovdebo, from Trevor Moore, scored the insurance marker that turned out to be the winner for the Heat,
With under two minutes left, and on the power play, the Xplosion pulled their goalie Eric Foufoulas, for an extra attacker. Griffen Fletcher converted from Kevin Morgan, and Zack Laranjo scored unassisted, for the Xplosion.
Said Xplosion coach Dan Wilson: “Heat goalie Aiden Spraggs made some big saves in the dying seconds of the game to earn a well-deserved victory for his team.”
Morgan pulled the hat trick Saturday as the Xplosion zapped Salmon Arm Salmar Classic Hornets 4-1 at the Shaw Centre. Keenon Jeberg had the other Xplosion snipe.
The Butcher Boys Raptors and North Okanagan Black Knights tied 4-4 in Saturday Pee Wee play.
Goals by Carter Morris (assists from Chase Batchelor and Brayden Riguidel), Maisun Ang-Hamilton (assist from Nicolas Petty), Petty (assists from Jacob Brewer and Aiden Skinner) and Riguidel (assists by Morris and Batchelor) accounted for the Raptors’ offence. Goalies were Caenen Wisse for the first half, and game MVP Nicholas Maglio for the second half.
Tage Kineshanko bagged three goals, while Tanner Franje Gilbert, Liam MacLeod and Drew MacKenzie each scored twice as the Lumby Stars ambushed the Winfield Bruins 13-1.
Matthew Yaremcio, Jordan Romailler, Michael Preston and Morgan Holland added singles for the Stars, sponsored by Kineshanko Logging and Green Velvet Lawn & Tree Care.
