Rosters Sports Club shut down Courtesy Motors Sistas 2-0 in North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Masters Division play Tuesday night at Marshall Field #4.

Crafty redhead Becky McLennan converted a well-placed goal in the first half and Michelle Connolly snuck one past Wendy Nadeau in the second half.

Tricia Therrien received the Rosters’ Player of the Match for her outstanding work on defence and Denise Bateman was recognized as the Most Sportsmanlike Player.

The Rosters forwards kept the pressure on with great ball movement from the midfield and keeper Amanda Smiley, while the back four turned in bold showings against the dangerous Courtesy Motors strikers, namely Andrea Zubot.

The Sistas want to send a big shout out to Rosters for a generous donation to Nadeau, who who will be shaving all her hair off for cancer at the Downtown Sunshine Festival.

The Sistas played an amazing game of keep-away with only one substitute in the first half with several scoring chances and some dynamite saves by Nadeau.

Debra Rosher delivered a corker on net and was named Most Sportsmanlike Player for the Courtesy girls.

McNaught supplies Monk winner

Gray Monk Impact brushed off VQA 2-1 in other Masters play at Marshall #3.

The Impact first goal came off a great feed from central midfielder Jodi Hawthorne to winger Edeen Yamada, who sent a through ball to Denise Bourdon, who then layed it off for Char McNaught for the tap-in far corner.

The Impact went up by a deuce off a set piece 10 yards outside of the penalty area. Shelinda Morin blasted a free kick into the net before VQA could even set up for the foul.

Newbie Erin Fowlie was stellar at right fullback for the Impact, who almost added more insurance when Shelinda Morin sent a corner to Suzie Andrews, who headed it just off the top bar.

VQA’s goal for the second week in a row, came from (Good Wood) Leah Willinger.

The wine association girls got awesome play from the mighty Carly Bibby with a solid fan base of birthday husband Chris and their two sweet kids.

The strong boots and strengths of Jane Sutton and Teresa Collins kept the middle of the field solid and produced many attacks on the Impact.

Bobbi Jo Gordon was solid in net as she learns on the fly.

“Her great attitude and joy of the game is amazing to watch and listen to,” said veteran Shelly Johnston.

TED United iced the Vernon Controllers 2-0 in Salmon Arm.

United used to blow the Controllers out 8-0 so the Vernon ladies were pleased with their improvement.

Michelle Embleton was sensational in net all night for Vernon, making multiple clutch saves against the speedy United forwards.

Controller rookie Wanda Vanderveen was aggressive up front and created a few scoring opportunities, getting denied on a few rebound shots.

Emma Louie and Amy Shupe also offered speed to the forward line while Jessie Bicknell was a bulldog in centre midfield pressuring the opposition and feeding the ball to the flanks.

Veteran Karen Zupp, who usually plays forward, had a stellar showing at right defence, using her wheels and ability to read plays to contain the Salmon Arm forwards.

Squires Four/ Dr Lee iced the Chick Kickers 2-0 with Lisa Arrotta recording her second shutout of the young season.

A dynamic defensive line of Bobbi Cormier, Marisa Weibe, Irene Arrotta, Carolyn Gustafson and Cindy Worth lent sweet support.

Jacquie Hansen and Loren Brunelle both scored their first goals of the season in the first half. Squires got super hustle from Marianne De Foor, chosen Most Sportsmanlike Player.

Kicksters bounce Ball Busters

The Kicksters bounced the Ball Busters 2-0 in Division 1 play at MacDonald Park.

The Kicksters dominated possession and went ahead at 15 minutes when Aryana Jacura buried a 20-yarder.

The Ball Blasters forced the Kickster keeper, Julia Kemper, to make a finger-tip save over the crossbar a few minutes later.

Abbey Hughes, a 16-year-old forward, tacked on another goal for the Kicksters after numerous chances in the second half.

The Kicksters got powerful defensive play from Victoria Grahn, Lee Richardson, Tarah Smith and Taylor Gray.

The North Enderby Timber Celtics lost 2-0 to the Blazers.

Casey Benz was stymied by the incredible Blazer keeper early on, while Sam Adam thought she put the Celtics on the board after beating the keeper but not the woodwork.

Newcomers Kendra Ostafie, Erin Traxel, Billie Kowalski and keeper Katelyn Paulin all had stellar debuts for the Timber group.

The Blazers improved to 2-0.
