Monday night was rather cruel to Vernon teams in the Capri Insurance Men’s 45+ Soccer League.

The worst of the worst were Turn-Key Controls Ogopogos, 10-2 losers to the Mission Cleaners at Parkinson #16 Field in Kelowna.

The depleted Okanagan Spring Brewery were bounced 6-0 by Brown Benefits at Parkinson #9, while injury-riddled Bosman Accounting fell 5-2 to Penticton Dental Centre at Marshall Field #1.

Gigi Moldovan did a fabulous Messi-impersonation with six goals for the Cleaners, who clicked for three quick goals.

Robin Carter, Dennis Derer, Dave Jenkinson and Anthony Kreutzer added singles for the Cleaners (5-3) who peppered keeper Greg Thalheimer with dozens of dangerous shots.

Red-hot Mark Wasylyk, assisted by Roland Riedstra and Bryan Schenker, got the injury- and suspension-plagued Pogos (2-6) on the board, making it 4-1. Shortly after Mission went ahead 6-1, Schenker chipped the ball over the keeper.

Bosman held Penticton to a 2-2 draw at the break before the Zeke Pescada show took over in the scorching heat.

Pescada rang up three all-planet snipes, while Jon Padgett and Derrick Webb contributed singles as Penticton improved to 7-0-1.

Louie Fuscaldo, assisted by Gerry Geelkerken, and Dave Howes, on a sweet header off a cross from Fuscaldo, counted the Bosman goals. Yogi Kongsdorf recorded multiple diving saves for Bosman (1-7-1).

Steve Fagan (3), Matt Cherrille, Tony Gonzales and Larry Kinakin counted goals for Browns (8-0). Akbal Mund and injured Marty Steele shared the goalkeeping for the Humpbacks.

Steven (The Monk) Heiss recorded his first clean sheet of the season.
