Saints medal at Subway track provincials

Pleasant Valley Secondary athletes ruled the Subway High School Track and Field Championships last weekend at McLeod Athletic Park in Langley.

The Saints, coached by Ian Cameron, uncovered four silver medals and a bronze.

Jacob Taylor struck silver in the junior men’s javelin with a throw of 54.29 metres, while taking bronze in the discus with a toss of 35.21m.

Trinity Hansma was runner-up in the senior women’s high jump with a leap of 1.65m, while Jaeda Ostoforoff secured silver in the junior women’s 80 hurdles, in 12.24 seconds. She was sixth in the 200m in 26.67.

Morgan Mills of PVSS finished in a three-way share of second place in the junior women’s high jump with a 1.55. Sarah Holman was fifth at 1.50.

Annika Ariano of the Seaton Sonics produced silver in the junior women’s 3,000 in 10 minutes, 25.46 seconds and bagged bronze in the 1,600 in 4:46:62, while teammate Megan Loland was third in the senior women’s 400 hurdles in 1:06.85.

Mia Bennison of the VSS Panthers was fourth in the junior women’s 1,500 in 4:48.51, while Josie Sexsmith of the Charles Bloom Timberwolves took fifth in the junior women’s 3kg shot put.
