The transition from field lacrosse player with the Marquette Golden Eagles in Milwaukee to boxla with the Vernon Source For Sports Tigers is no big deal for Ryan Sarazin.

The slick 5-foot-11, 195-pounder rang up six goals and one assist as the Tigers torched the Armstrong Shamrocks 22-10 in Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League play Friday night at Nor-Val Sports Centre.

Sarazin, who turns 21 this Saturday, supplied a deuce in the first period as Vernon grabbed a 7-4 lead. The Cats were ahead 16-9 after 40 minutes.

Jake Pelletier and Jordy Barr each provided 4+2, while rookie Kolten Kirschner produced 2+2 and Thomas Landels also scored twice. Conor Webb earned 1+3, while Liam MacPhee had one snipe. Goalie Darnell Hauca pocketed a pair of assists.

It was the season opener for both clubs and the Shamrocks went with young Francois Leroux in net as they look for a veteran backstop.

Marlon Forrest and Mykl Drabiuk each collected 3+1 for the Shamrocks, while Sam Hanley notched 2+2. Drew Bannister bagged 1+3, while Nik Luttmerding had a single.

Armstrong visits the Kelowna Raiders Friday night, while the Tigers take on the Rattlers Saturday in Kamloops.

In Novice action, the North Okanagan Fix Auto Legends ambushed Nicola Valley of Merritt 20-0 Saturday with Waylen Stowards ripping five snipes.

Kriss Yargeau fired 3+3, Kohen Pounder registered 3+1 and Aidan Wattie also pulled the hat trick. Mathias Roth and Charlie Demers each rolled up 2+1, while Callum Roth counted 1+2 and Tyrell Palm had a single.

Nolan Wilson recorded the shutout for the Legends, coached by senior Shamrock captain Chad Pounder.

The shortstaffed Legends ran hard but fell 9-7 to host Kamloops Sunday with Pounder supplying a deuce and singles coming from Stowards, Roth, Palm, Demers and Wattie adding singles.

n Junior Tiger grad Brodie MacDonald and the Georgia Swarm fell 21-11 to the host New England Wolves in National Lacrosse League play Saturday before 4,097 at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

MacDonald allowed 14 goals and made 35 saves before giving way to Zach Higgins.

Peterborough product Shawn Evans pocketed 5+6 for the Black Wolves (10-6). The Swarm are 7-10. Evans is the only player to win the Minto Cup (Canadian Junior lacrosse title), the Mann Cup (Canadian Senior title), and the NLL Champion’s Cup all within 12 months.
