It appeared Bosman Accounting were going to earn their first point of the young Capri Insurance Men’s 45+ Soccer League Monday night at Marshall Field #2.

Then Bryan Schenker of the Turn-Key Ogopogos got the ball just outside the 18 with about 10 minutes remaining. Schenker juked and jived and beat Yogi Kongsdorf with a hard blast under the crossbar for the winner in a 3-1 final.

Bosman broke out early with roadrunner Mark Sladen getting a breakaway, only to have the ball scooped up by Turn-Key keeper Ted Lurkins.

Roland Riedstra opened up the Pogo scoring as Ruben Cervantes kicked the ball to the far post, which then deflected to Riedstra’s foot for the tap-in.

Schenker tested to see if Kongsdorf was awake by shooting a rocket to the top right post for a sure goal that the great Dane jumped up and stopped.

Schenker was awarded a free kick, early into the second half, sending the shot high above the defence but covered by Kongsdorf.

Clint Dickenson’s corner was nearly nodded in by winger Volker Otto, who was the Longhorn Man of the Match.

Bosman defender Glenn Verdurmen ended a lengthy slump by fooling Lurkins with a 30-yard free kick from the right side near the 80th minute.

Riedstra drew the assist on Schenker’s goal, while Mark Wasylyk did all the work on the insurance goal, deking Kongsdorf in tight and sending Duane Dennis a gift pass at the far post.

Cervantes was denied by a diving Kongsdorf on a late breakaway. Kongsdorf took the Black Press Man of the Match for Bosman (0-3).

The Ogopogos, who got stellar showings by the two English Steves at central fullback – Fitzpatrick and Coombs – are 1-2 in the 12-team circuit

The Okanagan Spring Brewers improved to 3-0 by bouncing Soccer United of Kelowna 5-0 at Marshall #4.

Striker Johnny Orton scored twice and was robbed by acrobatic keeper Chris Turbitt on a penalty kick to take the Wayside Press Man of the Match.

Mark Budgen rang up the goal of the night when he took a short corner from Eric Ladner, moved towards the 18 and nailed a corker over a defender’s head off the far post and in. John Davies also recorded a beauty, taking a feed from Ken Kranenborg from the right flank and flicking a cheeky shot over Turbitt.

In other games, it was: Brown Benefits 12 RPM 3; Mind Smart United 2 Mules 1; Penticton United 4 Brandt’s Creek 1.
