Selects on early roll

The Vernon Black Forest Noodle Selects opened their Pee Wee spring hockey league season with a 2-1 win over the host Kamloops Ice Pirates.

After Matthew Kalwalski opened the scoring for the Selects, hard-working Austin Caldwell set up Kyle Sherwood for a wide open net to make it 2-0.

The Ice Pirates scored with two minutes to play as netminders Shawn Meadahl and Conor Webb shared the win.

Caldwell got Vernon going in their second game, scoring the first goal in a 3-1 win over the Okanagan Selects in Lake Country.

Reece Schroeder and Riley Swiskoski drew assists.

After the Okangan Selects equalized, Owen Beliveau shelved an amazing pass from Brady Marzocco, followed by an insurance marker by Caldwell.
