Ryan Roberts, Matt Brenton and Pearse Wylie, into an empty net with 10 seconds left, completed the Sharks’ offence in front of Chris Kingdon.

Travis Mann and Vernon Miskosky each pocketed a pair of assists for the Sharks, who trailed 2-0 at the break.

Jason Carleton, with 2+1, Curtis Wakelin, with 1+2, and Jason Anderson replied for the Whalers, who had James Scherck in net.

Corey Massie provided 3+3 and Tim Anderson added 2+2 as the Kalavida Flyers ambushed the Kal Sports Bar Blackhawks 12-3 at Civic Arena.

Rich Hoglund and Kevin Arbuckle each score twice, while Jeff Kuzniar earned 1+3, Rick Galvagno produced 1+2 and Glayne Gloin also scored in support of Byron Tiggelaar. Matt Glinsbockel picked up four helpers.

Tegan Blair, Corey Webb and Sean Kober answered for the Hawks, who had Jason Webster in goal.

There are a dozen teams in the VHL, formerly known as the Interior Hockey League.
