Silhouettes secure synchro medals

Vernon Silhouettes strike medals at the Jean Peters Invitational Synchronized Swimming Championships in Kamloops.

A trio of Vernon Silhouettes struck provincial gold at the Jean Peters Invitational Synchronized Swimming Championships at the Canada Games pool last weekend in Kamloops.

In the compulsory figure events, Shelby Kerr brought home gold and Charlotte Barker claimed bronze in the Level 2 Over 13 division. Julia Palfreyman took silver in the Level 2 Under 12 class.

In Level 2 Over 13 duet, Palfreyman and Barker teamed up to record gold in both routine score and championship score. In Level 2 Over 12 solo, Kerr was runner-up in routine score and first in championship score.

All three swimmers are coached by Katie Dick and train out of the Vernon aquatic centre.

The Silhouette trio is training for the 2012 B.C. Summer Games, July 19-22 in Surrey. They will join seven other Thompson Okanagan swimmers on the Zone 2 squad, including Lumby’s Taylor Sexsmith, two swimmers from Kelowna and four from Kamloops.

The Vernon Silhouettes are hosting their annual watershow Saturday at the aquatic centre starting at 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come support the girls.
