Sovereign seventh

Sovereign Lake ranks seventh at the Midget Nordic Championships at Telemark Cross-Country Ski Club in West Kelowna.

Sovereign Lake Nordic Club ranked seventh out of 19 teams at the Midget Championships last weekend at Telemark Cross-Country Ski Club in West Kelowna

In the 400-metre sprint course free technique event, Sovereign’s Aidan Andrews was 12th and Emma Smedley took 16th in the 1999-born division. For the 2000 age class, Finn Plummer was 10th and Jarrod Latta 19th, while in the female category, Sydney Embleton took 11th, Paige Latta 15th and Madison Catt earned 24th.

The Sovereign team of Ian Oliphant, Plummer, Jarrod Latta and Andrews ranked 11th in the 4 x 1.5-km classic/free relay, while the foursome of Koll Cherkowski, George Wiseman, Hayden Catt and Noah Podolski was 18th.

In the female 4 x 1.5-km, the team of Smedley, Samantha Loewen, Lynley Gordon-Mason and Embleton took sixth, while Paige Latta, Madison Land, Chloee Richey and Madison Catt teamed up for 14th. In the unofficial female 4 x 1.5-km, Clara Hardy, Natasha Loewen and Katarina Czenczek and were sixth.

In 1999-born 2-km classic, Andrews placed 13th for the boys, and Smedley and Loewen were eighth and 22nd respectively for the girls.

In the 2000-born class, Jarrod Latta was 14th for the boys 2-km, while Paige Latta was seventh and Embleton was 16th for the girls.

In the 2001 2-km classic, Oliphant was fifth, Podolski was 11th and Cherkowski was 20th for the boys. Hardy led the girls with 13th, Gordon-Mason was 17th, Czenczek was 27th, Richey was 29th and Land was 30th.

In the 2002 boys 2-km, Hayden Catt was 19th, Wiseman 20th. In the female category, Loewen was 19th.
