Stealth trade for MacDonald

MacDonald, a Vernon Junior Tigers grad, has been traded to the Stealth by the Georgia Swarm in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2020 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft.

“I’m really excited to start this new chapter with the Stealth,” said the towering net detective. “I’m thrilled to start training camp this season inside a place that has always felt like my home.”

MacDonald is a six-year NLL veteran who has appeared up in 99 games, having a record of 10-14-0, with a 10.79 goals against average (G.A.A) and a .625 save percentage. In 2017, he won a Champion’s Cup with the Swarm.

He has played in 98 games for the Langley Thunder of the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA), where he has a record of 40-35-4, 8.35 G.A.A and a .805 save percentage. He helped Langley to back-to-back WLA championships in 2011 and 2012 and was named the WLA Rookie of the Year and Playoff MVP in 2011.

“Brodie is a mature goalie who has had some great games in both the National Lacrosse League and the Western Lacrosse Association,” said Vancouver head coach and assistant GM Jamie Batley. “At 28-years-old, Brodie brings a lot of experience to our camp and we expect him to push the pace to make our roster.”

Vancouver begins training camp this weekend at the Langley Events Centre. The team will play two pre-season games the following week on Nov. 11 when they host the Calgary Roughnecks ns the next morning gainst the Colorado Mammoth. The pre-season games and all training camp sessions will be free and open to the public.

The NLL is North America’s premier professional indoor lacrosse league. Founded in 1986, the NLL ranks third in average attendance for pro indoor sports worldwide, behind only the NHL and NBA. The league is comprised of 11 franchises across the U.S. and Canada: Buffalo Bandits, Calgary Roughnecks, Colorado Mammoth, Georgia Swarm, New England Black Wolves, Philadelphia NLL, Rochester Knighthawks, San Diego NLL, Saskatchewan Rush, Toronto Rock and the Stealth. The 2017-18 NLL season, commemorating the League’s 32nd year, begins in December.
