Steam knock off Knights

North Okanagan Knights bow 5-0 to Summerland Steam in KIJHL play Friday night in Armstrong.

For the second time in as many games, the North Okanagan Knights were victimized by special teams in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League play.

The Knights surrendered a trio of powerplay goals in a 5-0 loss to the Summerland Steam Friday night at Nor-Val Sports Centre. They were also torched three times on the man advantage in their 5-3 Wednesday loss to the Osoyoos Coyotes.

North Okanagan, last in the 20-team KIJHL at 6-34-1-4, visit the Doug Birks Division-leading Kamloops Storm (27-12-0-2) today at McArthur Park Arena.

Kamloops was shut out 4-0 by the Chase Heat (21-15-2-6) Friday at Art Holding Memorial Arena. The Storm are 7-2-0-1 in their last 10.

Leading the Summerland attack Friday were Jack Mills and Coleton Fisher, each with a pair of goals. Adam Jones opened the scoring for the 26-15-0-3 Steam with a powerplay goal midway through period one.

Brett Huber recorded 19 saves for his 15th win and third shutout, which is second-most in the league. Mitch Profeit finished with 43 saves for the Knights.
