Sunterra Sista’s had everything working wonders Thursday night in a 4-1 North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Division 2 victory over Capri Insurance at Marshall Field #2.
Central midfielder Amanda Gaythorpe was awesome as she made plays to keep the ball moving up field, while Jen Currie and Kim Sylvester offered lots of speed and threat on the wings.
Capri took an early lead on a quick surprising penalty kick from outside the 18 that sailed top corner past keeper Susan August.
Andrea Zubot equalized with a high corker and Sista’s went ahead when Currie buried a low blast after a strong run up the flank.
Both Tania Wirachowsky and Becky Birbilis, after switching from defence to striker for a stretch, rounded out the scoring.
Carmen Kinniburgh, Miranda Dalhuisen and Sam Skeene showed great versatility, while Red Robin Player of the Match Sarah Ehman also sparkled while taking turns on the back and front lines.
In other Division 2 play, the Green Rockets got a hat trick from Shauna Hagen as they stopped Centerline Attack 4-0 at Marshall #4.
Lindsay Smith also scored for the Rockets, who clicked well as a team, getting gutsy run-till-ya-drop efforts from Kaitlyn Cameron, Casi Stanley and Hagen.
Centerline Attack played hard the whole game as Tammy L’Heureux put her Crossfit training to good use and was unstoppable on the defensive line.
Monika Jatel – despite recently returning after years away from the game – made some lovely runs and stellar passes, while smiling Natalie Lussin hustled and made some intelligent plays.
