T-Birds undefeated in Vernon Pee Wee tourney

The Vancouver Thunderbirds are the first 2-0 team in the Coca-Cola Classic.

The Vancouver Thunderbirds go into a noon game today against the Spokane Jr. Chiefs as the first 2-0 team in the 41st annual Coca-Cola Invitational Pee Wee Hockey Tournament at Civic Arena.

The T-Birds brushed back the Edmonton NWZ Raiders 4-3 Thursday night to take over top spot in the Coca-Cola Division. The South Delta Storm (1-0) and Juan de Fuca Grizzlies (1-0) are battling it out in morning Sun Valley Source For Sports Division play.

Andrew Clark beat Vernon Watkin Motors Mustangs’ goalie Connor Webb with a hard wrister, at 4:11 of double overtime Thursday night to give Spokane a 3-2 win. Ethan Florko and Ryan Moore also scored for the Chiefs, while Connor Johnston and Ethan King replied for Vernon. Reed Cashato supplied two assists.

The Bow Valley Flames of Calgary bounced the Seattle Sno-Kings 7-1 Friday morning, The Flames improved to 1-1, while the Sno-Kings dropped to 0-2.

Vernon takes on Edmonton today at 3 p.m.
